Sophie Theallet NY Spring 2009

Sophie Theallet, is a French designer whose work exudes a mix of bohemian style with a natural sensibility. The styling and details are that of a couturier yet, she masters the art of creating for real women with real figures. She's worked with fashion icons Jean Paul Gaultier and as the right hand for Azzedine Alaia.
Her spring 2009 collection is one of the few runway shows to feature several Black models on the runway. The show opens with a flowing white gown and moves into a collection of whites with shots of bold colour. Her ethnic inspired pieces reveal earthy tones, prints and silhouettes that show the curve of a woman's body the way it was meant to be seen. To exude a sensuality without vulgarity.
