It may be cold and snowing outside but believe it or not spring is just around the corner. If you step into any store these days you'll see hints of spring hanging on the racks and in window displays. One of the exciting things about spring is the injection of colour into everyone's wardrobe. For spring 2011 bright colours are everywhere. According to Pantone, the colour of the moment is honeysuckle; an infusion of pink and red creating a rich tone that brings a smile to anyone's face.
Other colours you'll see include shades of pea pod (green), coral, grey, regatta blue and peony. The vivid colours of spring give us a sense of vibrancy and can even change our moods.

Utilitarian trends are still going to be big this coming season. This military inspired look has been popular for the last few years and continues to dominate with slim cargo pants, double breasted jackets, army green, khaki and muted shades of sand.

The maxi dress will also be another big hit. In long flowing silhouettes, this style can take you from day to night with simple accessories. If you're more risqué, you'll adore the new sheer maxi dresses this season.

Skinny jeans and trousers have become a such a fashion staple it was only inevitable that we'd see a shift in the trouser silhouette. Don't get me wrong, the skinny isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But for those who are welcoming the refreshing change remember that there is one key to wearing wide leg trousers and jeans. Keep your tops simple and close to the body. Wearing a very loose top with wide pants will only swallow you up. Keep it simple.

That's all for now with a peek at spring. I'll have more to come in the coming month.
