Kanye West debuted his first women's collection to mixed reviews. After many years attending fashion shows and showing the world his personal style, he finally is making his mark. Despite being a novice, he managed to get big names like Anna Wintour, Joseph Altuzzurra and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
in the front row.
The collection featured plenty of cleavage, body-baring dresses, zipper details, leather and fur. West's work seemed to be a version of high-end street fashion. Not surprising coming from a music entertainer. The use of leather and fur in a spring collection is also something he was being criticized for. It doesn't seem practical for the season. But, artists tend to have an 'anything goes' mindset when it comes to fashion. Just look at musicians like Lady Gaga, Madonna and Katy Perry. West was quoted in Women's Wear Daily speaking to the crowd after the show saying, "Thank you for anybody that didn't believe, because they motivated us to break our boundaries." He went on to say, "This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow."
